The APIA was formed by investigative professionals to promote licensure, ethical practices, professional standards, and integrity in our profession. Protection for consumers, and fairness to subjects of investigations is paramount.
Licensure was accomplished in 2014 by passage of Chapter 25B - Alabama Private Investigation Regulatory Act. The Alabama Private Investigator Board (APIB) was created in 2014. The APIA holds a seat on that Board.
The APIA is a 501(C)(6), non-profit lobbying organization monitoring legislation that may affect our industry, thereby serving to protect licensed private investigators in the State of Alabama. We are pushing for improvements in our licensing law in areas of better minimum standards, training requirements, and agency licensing.
Lastly, the APIA promotes professional development by sponsoring quarterly meetings and an annual conference for continuing education and training. Networking within APIA, and access to our resources benefits all our members.
From the Capitol to the Courtroom, APIA members are involved in raising the standards of our profession through legislation and professional development.
